Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Culinary Arts students and their instructors participated in Taste of Bucks-Mont held on November 1, 2018 at the Warrington Country Club. EASTERN Culinary Arts students placed second out of five high school teams. Congratulations to EASTERN Culinary Arts students, Shaun Jones, Team Captain/Upper Moreland High School senior, Amy Zou, Springfield Township High School senior, Samantha Meehan, Abington Senior High School senior, Ronan Smith, Upper Moreland High School senior, and Marcus Soucy, Hatboro-Horsham High School junior.

Taste of Bucks-Mont highlights the area’s best food while raising money for the Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association (PRLA) Educational Foundation Scholarship Fund and the American Culinary Federation (ACF) Philadelphia Chapter. Attendees sampled food and had the opportunity to vote for a school competition like the popular television show, Chopped, where students incorporate unusual combinations of ingredients into dishes that are evaluated by a panel of judges.

“This was a lot of fun for our students and a great opportunity for them to showcase their culinary skills in a public forum,” said Charlie Zachmann, EASTERN Culinary Arts Instructor. “I am impressed with their teamwork and professionalism.”

Culinary Arts at EASTERN enables students to acquire a variety of skills including soup and sauce preparation, preparation of meat, fish and poultry entrees, baking, kitchen sanitation, purchasing and inventory controls. One-year seniors will be considered if space is available in the program. To learn more, please visit www.eastech.org/eastern-programs/cul.
