  • EASTERN and Central Penn College Form Articulation Agreement to Benefit Career and Technical Students

    Central Penn College and Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN), Willow Grove, Pa., entered into a college credit articulation agreement that will benefit students from EASTERN’s Allied Health, Business and Technology Professional, Networking and Cybersecurity, and Protective Services programs. Students can gain credits for Central Penn courses that will lead to an associate or bachelor’s degree at Central Penn College, maximizing transferable credits and translating to cost savings. This credit provision will apply to all Central Penn College locations.

  • EASTERN Alumni Spotlight: Matthew Hungerford, Protective Services

    The Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) is proud of its graduates. They personify EASTERN’s mission to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to craft a college and/or career path. We are proud to spotlight Mr. Matthew Hungerford, 2004 Bishop McDevitt High School/EASTERN Protective Services graduate, who is currently a 16-year veteran of the Cheltenham Police Department. He recently graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Public Safety Administration from Neumann University. He is now pursuing his Master of Jurisprudence in Criminal Law, Constitutional law, and Policy at Liberty University School of Law.

  • EASTERN and Central Penn College Form Dual Enrollment Partnership to Benefit Career and Technical Students

    Central Penn College and Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN), Willow Grove, Pa., entered into a Dual Enrollment Agreement, allowing EASTERN students the opportunity to take courses at Central Penn College, offering in-person and online courses. These courses will be taught by Central Penn College staff and available to EASTERN students at their Summerdale campus, Lancaster Center, and online.

  • EASTERN Appoints Exercise Science and Rehabilitation Instructor, Shelley Helm

    Shelley Helm has been selected as the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Exercise Science and Rehabilitation Instructor, starting the 2022 – 2023 school year. Ms. Helm comes to EASTERN with a passion for fitness and athletic safety, as well as 18 years of professional experience in the field ranging from working as a high school athletic trainer to a Sports Medicine Supervisor to a Sports Medicine Manager serving facilities in both Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.

  • EASTERN Appoints New Protective Services Instructor, Daniel Schaefer

    Daniel Schaefer has been selected as the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Protective Services Instructor, starting the 2022 – 2023 school year. Mr. Schaefer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Eastern University and a Master of Science in Emergency Management from Millersville University. Mr. Schaefer has held various positions throughout the years with the Cheltenham Township Police Department, from Police Officer to Detective, to his most recent position, Police Sergeant.

  • EASTERN Receives Department of Community and Economic Development Grant

    Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) is completing its $200,000 two-year Manufacturing PA Training to Career Implementation grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development. This grant helped to launch EASTERN’s Robotics and Automated Technology program. These funds helped to cover the teacher’s salary, three pieces of equipment, targeted marketing to the Eastern Montgomery County community, curriculum development, partnership development, and reimbursement to employers to support student-paid internships at local companies. With this funding, along with other state grants and local funding EASTERN was able to renovate the classroom space, build a state-of-the-art program, cultivate partnerships with local companies, and launch the program to juniors and seniors from Eastern Montgomery County starting the 2020-2021 school year.

  • EASTERN Cosmetology Clinic Reopens to Public

    Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) in Willow Grove is pleased to announce the re-opening of the summer Cosmetology Clinic. The Clinic will be open to the public on June 30, July 1, July 7, July 8, July 14, July 15, July 21 and July 22 by appointment only. All services must be paid for in cash upon entering the facility for appointments. To make your appointment, please call Michele Zimmerman at 215-784-4800 Ext. 111 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.

  • EASTERN Recognized 145 Students at May Awards Ceremony

    On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, EASTERN held its annual Awards Night, at Upper Moreland High School. This year, 145 students were recognized with more than $39,975 awarded for academic and technical achievement. EASTERN is grateful to the EASTERN Foundation for their fundraising efforts, and to all EASTERN staff, award sponsors, contributors, advisory committee members, and local businesses for helping EASTERN honor its outstanding students during this unprecedented time.

  • Karis Hudson, EASTERN Veterinary Science Alum Pursues Welding

    Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Veterinary Science/Hatboro-Horsham High School 2020 graduate, Karis Hudson is attending Penn College of Technology to attain her bachelor’s in Welding and Fabrication Engineering with a minor in non-destructive testing. She recently began a four-year apprenticeship program with Miller Electric, which will work around her school schedule. Earlier this month, she took time out of her busy schedule to speak with the current Welding Technology program about her experiences in her postsecondary program and the welding field.

  • EASTERN Alum Spotlight: Scott Horan, Welding Technology

    Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) is proud of our graduates. Today, we are honored to feature Scott Horan, an EASTERN 2020 Welding Technology/Upper Moreland High School graduate, who is a Welding Robot Technician at Toggle Construction. He returned to EASTERN on March 22 to speak with the current Welding Technology class about his career pathway and experiences.

  • EASTERN Instructor Named “Region I Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) New Teacher of the Year”

    Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) is pleased to announce that Networking and Cybersecurity Instructor, Mr. Michael Refsnider, has been named “Region I Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) New Teacher of the Year.” This award recognizes new CTE teachers who have made significant contributions toward innovative and unique career and technical education programs and have shown a professional commitment early in their careers. This honor is given to only one teacher in Region I, which consists of Pennsylvania, Washington DC, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia.

  • EASTERN Veterinary Science Student Awarded Rex Wright Scholarship at SkillsUSA State Competition

    Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Veterinary Science/Abington Senior High School senior, Isabela McGillis, was awarded a Rex Wright Scholarship at the SkillsUSA State Leadership Conference on April 8, 2022. The Rex Wright Scholarship is a competitive scholarship awarded to seniors enrolled in an approved career and technical program who will attend college after high school. To be considered, applicants must embody the SkillsUSA values. These values include being diligent and ardent in their preparation for a career field, passionate about service to others and the community, and displaying a great deal of respect for their chosen career field.

  • EASTERN and Montgomery County Community College Partner on College Credit Agreement for new EASTERN Program – Exercise Science and Rehabilitation

    Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) and Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN), signed an articulation agreement, allowing students from EASTERN’s newest program, Exercise Science and Rehabilitation, to earn up to 8 credits as part of the MCCC’s Exercise Science and Wellness Associate of Science program.

  • EASTERN Alumni Spotlight: Heather Judge, Veterinary Science

    Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Veterinary Science/Abington Senior High School 2021 graduate, Heather Judge is attending Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA, studying Veterinary Nursing with a concentration in Equine Science. Her postsecondary program, along with her Veterinary Science education at EASTERN, is setting her on the path to becoming a Vet Nurse, specializing in horses.

  • EASTERN Students Win at SkillsUSA State Competition

    Twenty-three students from Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) in Willow Grove attended the SkillsUSA State Competition in Hershey, PA from April 6 through April 8, 2022. There were 13 student competitors and 10 delegates in attendance. Students from all over Pennsylvania took part in the competition. SkillsUSA is a national student leadership organization that encourages students to be productive individuals in our democratic society, work to their potential, become responsible, be proud of their accomplishments and be supportive of their community.
