    May was Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. EASTERN celebrated by interviewing students of Asian heritage who are leaders in their programs and recent award winners at EASTERN’s Annual Awards Night held in late May. Today, we spotlight Khanh Ha, a senior in EASTERN’s Allied Health program and at Upper Moreland High School.

  • EASTERN Recognized 145 Students at May Awards Ceremony

    On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, EASTERN held its annual Awards Night, at Upper Moreland High School. This year, 145 students were recognized with more than $39,975 awarded for academic and technical achievement. EASTERN is grateful to the EASTERN Foundation for their fundraising efforts, and to all EASTERN staff, award sponsors, contributors, advisory committee members, and local businesses for helping EASTERN honor its outstanding students during this unprecedented time.

  • Karis Hudson, EASTERN Veterinary Science Alum Pursues Welding

    Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Veterinary Science/Hatboro-Horsham High School 2020 graduate, Karis Hudson is attending Penn College of Technology to attain her bachelor’s in Welding and Fabrication Engineering with a minor in non-destructive testing. She recently began a four-year apprenticeship program with Miller Electric, which will work around her school schedule. Earlier this month, she took time out of her busy schedule to speak with the current Welding Technology program about her experiences in her postsecondary program and the welding field.

  • EASTERN Alum Spotlight: Scott Horan, Welding Technology

    Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) is proud of our graduates. Today, we are honored to feature Scott Horan, an EASTERN 2020 Welding Technology/Upper Moreland High School graduate, who is a Welding Robot Technician at Toggle Construction. He returned to EASTERN on March 22 to speak with the current Welding Technology class about his career pathway and experiences.

  • EASTERN Instructor Named “Region I Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) New Teacher of the Year”

    Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) is pleased to announce that Networking and Cybersecurity Instructor, Mr. Michael Refsnider, has been named “Region I Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) New Teacher of the Year.” This award recognizes new CTE teachers who have made significant contributions toward innovative and unique career and technical education programs and have shown a professional commitment early in their careers. This honor is given to only one teacher in Region I, which consists of Pennsylvania, Washington DC, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia.

  • EASTERN Veterinary Science Student Awarded Rex Wright Scholarship at SkillsUSA State Competition

    Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Veterinary Science/Abington Senior High School senior, Isabela McGillis, was awarded a Rex Wright Scholarship at the SkillsUSA State Leadership Conference on April 8, 2022. The Rex Wright Scholarship is a competitive scholarship awarded to seniors enrolled in an approved career and technical program who will attend college after high school. To be considered, applicants must embody the SkillsUSA values. These values include being diligent and ardent in their preparation for a career field, passionate about service to others and the community, and displaying a great deal of respect for their chosen career field.

  • EASTERN and Montgomery County Community College Partner on College Credit Agreement for new EASTERN Program – Exercise Science and Rehabilitation

    Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) and Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN), signed an articulation agreement, allowing students from EASTERN’s newest program, Exercise Science and Rehabilitation, to earn up to 8 credits as part of the MCCC’s Exercise Science and Wellness Associate of Science program.

  • EASTERN Alumni Spotlight: Heather Judge, Veterinary Science

    Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Veterinary Science/Abington Senior High School 2021 graduate, Heather Judge is attending Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA, studying Veterinary Nursing with a concentration in Equine Science. Her postsecondary program, along with her Veterinary Science education at EASTERN, is setting her on the path to becoming a Vet Nurse, specializing in horses.

  • EASTERN Students Win at SkillsUSA State Competition

    Twenty-three students from Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) in Willow Grove attended the SkillsUSA State Competition in Hershey, PA from April 6 through April 8, 2022. There were 13 student competitors and 10 delegates in attendance. Students from all over Pennsylvania took part in the competition. SkillsUSA is a national student leadership organization that encourages students to be productive individuals in our democratic society, work to their potential, become responsible, be proud of their accomplishments and be supportive of their community.

  • Women’s History Month Alumni Spotlight: Elissa Johnson, Construction Technology

    March is Women’s History Month. We celebrated by focusing on EASTERN students and alumna in non-traditional careers. Elissa Johnson, a 2019 EASTERN Construction Technology/Cheltenham High School graduate, is enjoying her third year of a four-year apprenticeship at Klover Contracting. Her apprenticeship includes on-the-job training, as well as taking classes one day a week at Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC.)

  • National Women’s History Month Student Spotlight: Jasmine Vong, Construction Technology

    March is National Women’s History Month. EASTERN is celebrating by spotlighting several of our female students in non-traditional programs. Today’s student spotlight features Jasmine Vong, an EASTERN Construction Technology/Cheltenham High School senior, who chose Construction Technology because she plans to pursue a career in engineering, and she believes this program to be a great head start.

Today’s student spotlight features Malaika Mbithi, an EASTERN Construction Technology/Jenkintown High School junior, who chose EASTERN’s Construction Technology program because building has always captured her interest. Even as a child, she enjoyed building with Legos or driving by job sites under construction.

  • National Women’s History Month Student Spotlight: Skylar Fryling, Collision Repair Technology

    March is National Women’s History Month. EASTERN is celebrating by spotlighting several of our female students in non-traditional programs. Today’s student spotlight features Skylar Fryling, an EASTERN Collision Repair Technology/Hatboro-Horsham High School junior, who chose EASTERN’s Collision Repair Technology program because working on cars is something she has done with her dad for years. With her father’s industry connections, he was able to help her secure a job at a local detail shop, but Skylar is looking forward to the possibility of a paid internship/cooperative learning experience at a body shop for her senior year.

  • EASTERN Welding Technology Instructor Receives Impact Influencer Award from Navy Talent Acquisition Group

    Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Welding Technology Instructor, Meghan Cicchino, was recognized on March 16, 2022, with the Navy Talent Acquisition Group of Philadelphia’s Impact Influencer Award. Mrs. Cicchino was nominated for this award by morning Welding Technology student, Aiden Cosgrove, a senior at Upper Moreland High School, and U.S. Navy Recruit. Aiden nominated Mrs. Cicchino for many reasons, but the most important was that she starts off each school day with positivity and encouragement.

  • Black History Month Student Spotlight: Ryan Dunkley, Electrical Technology

    February is Black History Month. EASTERN is extremely proud of our Black students and alum, and we are celebrating by focusing on our successful students throughout the month. This week’s student spotlight features Ryan Dunkley, an EASTERN Electrical Technology/Cheltenham High School senior, who is currently mapping out his future, and enjoying his senior year with his EASTERN classmates. Ryan’s favorite part of his EASTERN program are the friends from all over Eastern Montgomery County that he has made, and the fun they have working together each day.
