Dear EASTERN Families,
Eastern Center for Arts and Technology is developing a Health and Safety plan for reopening in the fall which will be presented to our Joint Operating Committee (School Board) for approval on August 12th. Click here (or on the link above) to review the plan. Our draft plan presents three possible scenarios, all of which may occur throughout the school year: (1) in-person instruction where students attend every day during their scheduled session, (2) a blend of in-person and virtual learning with students attending EASTERN during their scheduled session either Mondays and Tuesdays or Thursdays and Fridays, and (3) all virtual education.
EASTERN serves nine participating school districts and functions as an extension of the districts’ academic offerings. As a result, our plan needs to complement and be compatible with the plans being implemented by our districts. EASTERN’s draft plan has been posted on the website.
New students and returning Cosmetology students should have received or will be receiving a “Welcome Back” letter from Eastern Center for Arts and Technology which is used to communicate expectations for purchasing uniforms, personal protective equipment, and other necessary items. Since we will not know until August 12th what the reopening plan will be to start the school year, I am recommending that you use the information presented in the letter for your own budgeting purposes, and you may want to refrain from making the purchase until our plan is approved and we engage in “in-person” instruction. Some of the items, like textbooks and cosmetology kits, are items that can and will be used by students even during virtual learning.
We look forward to meeting the challenges this upcoming school year presents and our staff is committed to providing each of our students with meaningful learning in their chosen career field.
