Alivia Lauletta, a junior at Lower Moreland High School, has successfully completed her first year in the Design, Photography, and Illustration program at the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN). Throughout the year, she demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence. In recognition of her outstanding attendance and work ethic, she received the Attendance Award at EASTERN’s Awards Night in May. Adding to her impressive list of accomplishments, Alivia was also selected as the 2026 Pennsylvania recipient of the prestigious Billy Michal Student Leadership Award, an honor that recognizes students who exemplify leadership, service, and a positive impact on their school community.

Billy Michal, a 6-year-old from Louisiana, helped his one-room school win a statewide scrap metal collection contest during World War II.  He realized that every citizen, no matter how small, could contribute to our victory in the war. Today, The Billy Michal Leadership Award is annually presented to one student from each state and the District of Columbia who demonstrates the American spirit in their community.

As a history enthusiast—particularly of World War II—Alivia was thrilled to receive a four-day, all-expenses-paid trip to the National WWII Museum in New Orleans to represent Pennsylvania at the 2026 American Spirit Awards June 4 through 7 as part of her award recognition. During this unforgettable experience, she had the unique opportunity to meet and interview a 101-year-old Rosie the Riveter, as well as connect with several other inspiring individuals whose stories brought history to life.

Alivia was selected for this honor in recognition of her outstanding leadership and dedication to serving her community. At Lower Moreland High School, she is actively involved in the drama program and serves as Secretary of the Ukraine Club, where she recently organized a community-wide donation drive to collect supplies for a school in Ukraine. She is also a proud member of both the National Honor Society and the National Art Honor Society, reflecting her commitment to academic excellence, service, and the arts.  At EASTERN, she is a student ambassador who has represented her Design, Photography, and Illustration program at recruitment events.

“I am still shocked that I received this honor,” said Alivia. “The National WWII Museum was incredible, and it was such a privilege to meet these remarkable women who contributed so much to the war effort. Hearing their stories firsthand was an unforgettable experience and something I will cherish for years to come.”

Alivia will return to EASTERN’s Design, Photography, and Illustration program this fall, where she looks forward to continuing to develop her creative talents while exploring future educational and career opportunities.
