February is Black History Month, and the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) is proud to honor this meaningful occasion by uplifting student voice and recognizing exceptional students. This week’s student spotlight features Infinity Miller-Broadwater, a senior from Abington Senior High School enrolled in EASTERN’s Exercise Science and Rehabilitation Program. Infinity was nominated by Instructional Aide Mr. Robert Beck, who praised her “rare and powerful form of leadership—rooted in compassion, humility, and quiet confidence.”

To Infinity, Black History Month is a time to honor African Americans who have made significant contributions to society. “We have a Vibe and Imagine Club at Abington Senior High School that I am a member of, and we organize a festival to celebrate Black History Month,” said Infinity. “We feature soul food, a Black History Month Family Feud game, other fun activities, and showcase African American hair products.”

She always knew she wanted to pursue a career in healthcare. After visiting EASTERN’s Exercise Science and Rehabilitation program, she was drawn to it because it gave students a glimpse into the many different paths available in the healthcare field. “Learning about all the parts of the body and how to help people appealed to me,” said Infinity.

At EASTERN, Infinity serves as a Student Ambassador and represented her program during the 10th Grade Career Expo at Abington Senior High School. She is also an active member of the Vibe and Imagine Club and the National Honor Society at Abington Senior High School.

Outside the classroom, she volunteers at Temple Hospital, assisting with front desk operations, welcoming patients and visitors, transporting patients to and from procedures, and delivering blood samples and specimens to the laboratory. Infinity is also actively involved in her congregation within the Jehovah’s Witnesses organization at the East May Fair Congregation, where she regularly welcomes new members and helps maintain the grounds. Her faith and service through her congregation are central to who Infinity is and the values she upholds.

Infinity credits her mother for shaping her strong work ethic and her passion for helping others.  Her mother balances two demanding jobs – working as a Certified Nursing Assistant and serving as an assistant teacher for students with special needs.  “My mom has always been there for me,” said Infinity.  “What I admire most about her is her honesty.  She always tells it like it is, and that has taught me to be straightforward.”

After graduating from EASTERN and Abington Senior High School, Infinity plans to enroll in a 10-month Medical Assistant program and begin working in the field. “I will have a head start because at EASTERN, I have learned a great deal about the body and how to identify injuries,” said Infinity.
