Jordyn (Harris) Pontoriero, a 2016 graduate of Upper Moreland High School and the Allied Health program at the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN), earned her BSN in Nursing from the University of Miami. From 2020 to 2024, she worked as an ER nurse while completing her MSN in Nursing at La Salle University, graduating in May 2024. She now serves as an Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner in New Jersey—and, most excitingly, is expecting twins.

The Director’s Office is updating the hallway photos and has been reaching out to the student models to learn what they’re doing now and to offer them their portrait for posterity.

During her time at EASTERN, Jordyn excelled academically and was honored at Awards Night with the Occupational Advisory Committee Excellence Award, the Foundation Award for High Student Achievement, and the Willow Grove Rotary Scholarship (Service Above Self).

“The Allied Health program truly confirmed the passion I already had for nursing before graduating high school,” said Jordyn. “It allowed me to fully immerse myself in all aspects of nursing before officially deciding to study it in college, which I think is so important. Many people enter the profession without fully understanding what it entails, and I credit the Allied Health program with showing me the foundations of nursing and healthcare, so I knew exactly what to expect during my clinicals in college.”

Be sure a career pathway in healthcare is right for you! Allied Health is a one-year senior-only program designed for students with rigorous academic preparation who plan to continue their education in college to prepare for a career in the health field. Students have the opportunity to explore careers in the healthcare field through job shadowing, guest speakers, and facility tours. Opportunities are dependent upon availability of the clinical sites and speakers. This program offers the potential of earning college credits at Montgomery County Community College at a reduced tuition rate. This unique opportunity provides students with a first-hand look at the many healthcare careers available to them.
