Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Automotive Technology and Collision Repair Technology programs represented, for the first time, at the Philadelphia Auto Show on Sunday, January 29, 2017. EASTERN was invited by the Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation, and was offered a table as part of the Philadelphia Auto Show’s efforts to promote career and technical education and the retail automotive industry as a wise career choice.
EASTERN’s Automotive Technology Instructor, George Stahl, EASTERN’s Collision Repair Technology Instructor, Steve Parke, EASTERN’s Automotive and Collision Technology Instructional Aide, Victoria Penecale, and EASTERN’s Organizational Advancement Director, Amy Shields, represented EASTERN along with four current students. Automotive Technology program seniors, Raymond Panella and Nicholas
Hawthorn, both from Archbishop Wood High School, and Collision Repair Technology seniors, Max Goettner from Hatboro-Horsham High School and Damon Thompson from Abington High School, volunteered their time to represent their EASTERN programs.
“This was a great opportunity for us to publicize our career and technical programs, our Summer Fun programs for middle school students, and our adult education evening programs,” said George Stahl, EASTERN’s Automotive Technology Instructor. “This was also a chance for our student representatives to check out the Philadelphia Auto Show and learn about the newest makes and models. Automotive Technology at EASTERN is designed for the student who is serious about working in the automotive industry. Collision Repair Technology at EASTERN PROVIDES a combination of classroom instruction and hands on experience needed to carry out repairs on motor vehicles. Students benefit from the use of I-Car (Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair) enhanced curriculum. Career objectives for this program is Career Objectives: include Automotive Refinisher, Sheet Metal/Cosmetic Repair Person, Frame/Structural
