Beth Whitehead was selected as the Allied Health Instructor at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) in August 2017. Allied Health at EASTERN provides the opportunity to pursue a career in the healthcare industry. Allied Health is a senior-only program which is designed for high school seniors who plan to continue their education in college preparing for a career in the health field. Students are offered the opportunity to gain extensive clinical experiences partnering with health professionals at Abington-Jefferson Health.
Ms. Whitehead is a Registered Nurse, a Board-Certified Emergency Nurse and a Board-Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse, with several industry certifications. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition from Penn State University, her RN from Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing, and her MSN in Nursing from Chamberlain College. Prior to joining EASTERN, Ms. Whitehead enjoyed a successful career in the healthcare field as an Assistant Dietary Director at a Nursing Home in Willow Grove, to an emergency trauma nurse, to her most recent position as a Clinical Educator at Abington-Jefferson. Ms. Whitehead continues to work as a Nurse Expert for a law firm in Philadelphia. She has also worked as an Adjunct Nursing Professor at Widener University.
“I am excited to begin teaching the health professionals of the future,” said Ms. Whitehead. “This is a great opportunity for me to share my experiences in the healthcare field and an opportunity for me to show the Allied Health students all the careers available within the field. The healthcare field includes nursing, physical therapy, emergency services, medical imaging and more.”
