Student Spotlight: Jacob Neulight – Computer Network Administration

Jason Neulight, CNA studentEastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Computer Network Administration/Cheltenham High School rising senior, Jacob Neulight, has been selected as EASTERN’s Technology Management Systems (TMS) summer intern. This full-time summer position requires updating and reformatting school computers, Chromebooks and technology set-up for Summer Fun – EASTERN’s Middle School enrichment program.

As a freshman at Cheltenham High School, Jacob took an Advanced Placement Computer Programming class, which ignited his interested in learning more. Through EASTERN’s 10th Grade Career Expo, Jacob had the opportunity to visit the EASTERN Computer Network Administration program, meet the instructor, and speak with some of the current students. This validated his decision to enroll in the program.

During his first year in the Computer Network Administration program, Jacob proved himself to be an exceptional student. At EASTERN’s annual Awards Night in May 2017, Jacob received the EASTERN Foundation, Occupational Advisory Committee, Outstanding Junior, and Straight A Awards. Through EASTERN’s dual enrollment partnership with Montgomery County Community College, Jacob can earn 12 transferrable college credits by taking this EASTERN program.

“Coming to EASTERN has given me a head start on college through the dual enrollment program with Montgomery County Community College,” said Jacob. This program has offered me many great opportunities such as my summer internship, and my instructor is very encouraging.”

After graduation from Cheltenham High School and EASTERN’s Computer Network Administration program, Jacob plans to attend college in Canada, where he holds dual citizenship, to continue his postsecondary education in website and application development.
