EASTERN’s Distance Learning and Industry-Standard Certifications II

OSHA Certification CertificateThe Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) is dedicated to the continuity of learning during this unprecedented time. All of EASTERN’s career and technical high school programs are using various online learning platforms to effectively teach their students in the most productive manner possible. This includes the attainment of industry-standard certifications whenever possible. In addition to the industry-standard certification list released last week, the following certifications and certification training is available to our student population.

The Electrical Technology students are pursuing their Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-hour safety certification, Safety and Pollution Prevention (S/P2) certification and participating in online ladder safety training.

Prior to the closure of the school, Protective Services students earned online certifications in National Incident Management (NIMS) or Incident Command, 100, 200, 700 and 800.

The Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning students will be working on obtaining their Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-hour safety certification later this semester.

The Business and Technology Professional students have the option to take part in online tutorials preparing them for the Microsoft Office Specialist – Word certification. This certification cannot be obtained online, but the preparation courses are available. The final certification test will need to be conducted at EASTERN’s Certiport workstation.

The Commercial Art students are taking part in online tutorials for their Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) certification exam. This certification cannot be obtained online, but the preparation courses are available. The online tutorials go over the software in which the student chooses to take their certification, such as Photoshop and Illustrator. This is easily accomplished at home because the students do not need the Adobe program. The tutorials walk the students through questions and scenarios they might encounter on the certification test. The final certification test will need to be conducted at EASTERN’s Certiport workstation.

“I am extremely impressed with the dedication that our students have displayed,” said Joe Greb, EASTERN’s Assistant Director. “We are all figuring this out together, and I am confident that we will end the school year strong. These industry-standard certifications are important to our students and will enhance their resumes and job prospects.”
