Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Business and Technology Professional/Abington High School senior, Maria Smith, has been selected as a recipient for the Grace A. Packer Perseverance Award. This award will be paid directly to the student and can be used for any of the educational needs for the year.

Maria’s Guidance Counselor at Abington High School, Kelly Miller, first informed her of the award and encouraged her to apply. She was aware of Maria’s college aspirations and knew this would assist her financially.

Maria chose Northampton Community College in Bethlehem for her first two years, and plans to transfer to Delaware University to complete her degree in Business Management. She considers herself to be organized and professional and has enjoyed her Business and Technology Professional program at EASTERN.

“I am honored to be the first recipient of this award,” said Maria. “I knew my decision to continue my education in the business field was the right choice for me. I am extremely grateful for the financial help this will provide.”

After graduation from Delaware University, Maria hopes to work for a large company in New York City.
