Good Evening Parents and Students,
I hope this email finds everyone doing well and making the best of a tough situation. We continue to implement our Continuity of Education Plan and we really appreciate the support, dedication, and perseverance our students have shown as they navigate online learning. We have some important information to share regarding grading, Awards Night, and closing the year.
Grading: Our grades will be distributed to the districts at the end of the fourth marking period. Districts will use their final year formula to calculate and adjust our student grades so that grading expectations are consistent within the districts.
End-of-Year: Students will follow their district schedules for the end of the year. Whatever date the district has identified as the last student day for students at the district will also be the date for the student’s last instructional date for EASTERN. The only exception to this is any district still holding students after June 15th as this is the last student day for EASTERN. Please note that this end-of-year date does not apply to Cosmetology Students who are completing assignments to earn hours towards the 1250 hours required by the State Board of Cosmetology.
Awards Night: Our Awards Night will be held virtually on May 27th at 7:00 PM where a slide show announcing student award winners will go live. Parents of students receiving an award will receive a letter from me. This evening typically recognizes outstanding seniors but also includes some awards for select juniors.
Certificates: Graduating seniors will either receive a Certificate of Participation or a Certificate of Completion, depending on how well they performed in their program areas. These will be mailed home later in June along with the student’s Task List which shows which competencies students completed in our programs.
Lockers: We are working on a schedule for students to pick up their personal belongings. This is tentatively scheduled for June 1, 2, and 3. We will design a schedule and process that staggers students and adheres to the Center for Disease Control recommendations. More information will be sent out soon.
Thank you again for all of your support. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
