Culinary Arts Grad Receives American Culinary Federation Award

Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) 2015 Culinary Arts/Springfield High ChristineFarissSchool graduate, Christine Fariss, is the recipient of The American Culinary Federation (ACF) Philadelphia Chapter scholarship for Excellence in Culinary Education. She was made aware of this award through her EASTERN Culinary Art Instructor, Chef Joel Marucheck.

The ACF Philadelphia Chapter awarded two scholarships to students attending culinary school. These scholarships are good for attendance in any certificate or degree program at any post-secondary culinary schools. Christine was required to complete an online application form and provide two recommendations. Christine was selected for this prestigious award in June and plans to attend Montgomery County Community College in the fall for an associate’s degree in Culinary Arts.

At EASTERN’s Awards Night in May, Christine was the recipient of the Zwilling J. A. Henckles Award, and was recognized for receiving the third place medal for Related Technical Math at the SkillsUSA District 2 Competition.

“I appreciate the head start in the culinary field that I received from EASTERN,” said Christine. “I have learned a great deal from my instructors, and I look forward to furthering my education.”

She is currently working at Greenberg’s Bakery in Oreland. She plans to continue with a career in the culinary field after graduating from college.
