Catherman Family Supports EASTERN Student Awards

Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) is proud to announce the second year of the Catherman Family Awards sponsored by the Catherman family of Hatboro, PA. The Catherman Family Awards will benefit students from Allied Health, Protective Services, and Welding Technology at EASTERN’s Awards Night on May 27, 2015.

Steven W. Catherman Sr. is a graduate of the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology’s Welding program. While at Middle Bucks he was involved in their student leadership organization, VICA, now known as SkillsUSA. Catherman placed first in the regional welding competition, first at the state welding competition, and had the opportunity to compete at the national level in Atlanta. He was previously employed as an instructor for EASTERN’s Continuing Education Welding Technology program, and currently serves on the Occupational Advisory Committee (OAC) for the high school Welding Technology program. He is a Project Manager/Estimator at a Mechanical Contracting firm in Philadelphia.

Steven W. Catherman Jr. graduated from EASTERN’s Protective Services program and Archbishop Wood High School in 2006. Walt Kenney, EASTERN’s Protective Services Instructor, inspired him to pursue a career in law enforcement and Catherman is now an Abington police officer and serves on the OAC.

Christina J. Catherman graduated 2013 from EASTERN’s Allied Health Program and Upper Moreland High School. Linda Kalita, EASTERN’s Allied Health Instructor, inspired Catherman to pursue a career in nursing and is presently studying at the Abington Dixon School of Nursing.

“The Catherman family has three generations who have attended, and flourished from the technical school system,” said Steve Catherman Sr. “We know and understand the importance of choosing a career path early and are thankful for the system that inspired all of us to get a jump start in our lives. Our family is honored to recognize three deserving future professionals, selected by their EASTERN program instructors, who inspired them to pursue a career or further their education. To inspire a young mind and watch it thrive and grow is priceless.”
