Autumn Clark, Business and Technology Professional Alumni

Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) 2016 Business and TechnologyProfessional/Cheltenham High School alumna, Autumn Clark, is currently the Enrollment Assistant at Penn Medicine, the University of Pennsylvania Health System located in Philadelphia.

Ever since Clark was a child she enjoyed working with computers and people. During a tenth-grade visit to EASTERN, she learned about a new program offering called Office Management (now called Business and Technology Professional.) Clark found this program to be a perfect fit because she was very interested in learning more about the Microsoft Office Suite, sharpening her accounting skills, and exploring careers in the business world.


Clark started at Penn Medicine as a temp for seven months when her manager commended her on her hard work and asked her to come on board permanently. She credits her EASTERN Instructor, Erin Derby, with helping her develop an eye for detail and a strong work ethic.

“My training in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook has really benefited me in my current job position,” said Clark. “I use Excel, Outlook and Word every day in the office. EASTERN prepares you for the real working world. Not only did I learn lessons pertaining to office management and business, but I learned life lessons.”

Clark hopes to achieve her dream of becoming an Executive Assistant in the future. She feels as though she is on the right track and is committed to working hard and keeping focused on her goal.

Business and Technology Professional at EASTERN is designed for high school juniors and seniors who plan to pursue a career in an office environment. Students study the current Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other communication technologies. Students will leave the program well-versed on creating spreadsheets; composing correspondence; managing databases; creating presentations; document management; and using office machines. Important aspects of this program include office professionalism, communications skills and independent thinking.
