Adam J. Weissner Award-Supporting Welding Technology for 15 Years

Portrait of Adam WeissnerOn May 5 2004, Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Welding Technology/Upper Moreland High School senior, Adam Weissner, passed away suddenly in a tragic car accident. The Weissner family has made it a priority to recognize a Welding Technology student at EASTERN’s annual awards night since May 2005. The Adam J. Weissner Memorial award is given to a hard-working student who found their niche in the Welding Technology program and demonstrates promise to succeed in the field.

Adam initially enrolled in the Construction Technology program at EASTERN, but quickly realized that was not the right field for him. After taking a look at the other program offerings, he chose Welding Technology and excelled.During his senior year,he took part in a paid internship through EASTERN’s cooperative learning program.

“The Adam J. Weissner Memorial Award has assisted many promising students with means to purchase the welding equipment they need for the field,” said Dr. Cathleen Plesnarski, EASTERN’s Executive Director. “This award has been in existence since 2005. This May will mark 15 years of the Weissner family’s dedication to student success in Adam’s memory, and we couldn’t be more grateful.”
