Mr. Zachmann

Charles Zachmann was selected as the Culinary Arts Instructor at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) starting in August 2018. Mr. Zachmann has a bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts Management from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and an associate degree in Professional Cooking from Baltimore International College. During his time at Baltimore International College, he completed an externship at Chef Tell’s Manor House in Upper Black Eddy, PA.

His restaurant experience includes employment at several establishments in New Jersey such as The Lambertville Station, The Stockton Inn and The Tewksbury Inn. He comes to EASTERN from Frederick County Career and Technology Center in Maryland where he taught Culinary Arts.

Mr. Vozzo

Benjamin Vozzo was selected as the Culinary Arts Instructor at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) starting in January 2020. Mr. Vozzo has an Associate of Culinary Arts from the Restaurant School of Philadelphia, and a Bachelor of Science in Food Marketing from Saint Joseph University. He has experience working abroad in Europe learning to prepare Spanish, French and Italian cuisine.

Since 2016, Mr. Vozzo worked as the Culinary Resource Manager at The Culinary Arts Institute of Montgomery County Community College (MCCC). Prior to MCCC, Mr. Vozzo was a Culinary Instructor at Star Career Academy, and served as Executive Chef at several upscale restaurants locally and throughout Key West, Florida.

Ms. Suanlarm

Nicole Suanlarm began as EASTERN’s Culinary Arts Instructional Aide in September 2015. She is a 2007 graduate of EASTERN’s Culinary Arts program and Upper Moreland High School.

Ms. Suanlarm brings a great deal of culinary experience to EASTERN, including an internship in Ireland, a managerial position at the Cheesecake Factory, and demonstrations at the Reading Terminal Market.

In the future, she plans to mentor students and teach them to pursue their passion.  If she could offer some advice for incoming Culinary Arts students, she would tell them to, “take as many opportunities as you can get and do not be afraid to take chances. You are your greatest resource when you enter the culinary world.”

Ms. Steacker

Cheryl Steacker has been selected as the Culinary Arts Long-Term Substitute Culinary Arts Aide for the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) for three months beginning September 1, 2021. Ms. Steacker will be assisting EASTERN Culinary Arts Instructors, Chef Zachmann and Chef Vozzo, with program instruction, and will be providing individualized assistance to students in the Culinary Arts program.

Ms. Steacker studied at Penn State University Abington campus before discovering her love of the culinary field. Upon deciding to pursue a career in culinary, she obtained her ServSafe certification. The National Restaurant Association, through its ServSafe certification program, aims to educate foodservice managers, food-handlers and anyone working in the foodservice industry, on best practices for food safety.

Prior to her role at EASTERN, Ms. Steacker was a Philadelphia food event host, on-air demonstrator and culinary content creator, working alongside major appliance brands such as Viking & Subzero. Ms. Steacker also has background in pastry, serving as Pastry Chef and Social Media Manager in bakeries throughout Philadelphia’s surrounding counties.
