Men In Nursing

Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) offers a Practical Nursing Program for adults (18 years of age and older.)    A career in nursing provides both men and women with a career that is flexible and personally and financially rewarding. EASTERN’s Practical Nursing classes are available during the day on a one-year full-time basis, or two evenings a week and every other weekend for the two-year part-time program. Classes meet on our Terwood Road campus or at satellite locations in Ambler, Royersford and Harleysville.

Men In Nursing

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, men make up six percent of the 2.9 million nurses nationwide, an increase of more than 20,000 men in nursing since 2000.  Practical Nurses work with physicians and registered nurses in providing many types of nursing care.

EASTERN’s Practical Nursing Program is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing, and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). EASTERN is accredited by Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges. The program is designed to prepare qualified, selected individuals for a career in Practical Nursing. Upon completion of the program, the graduate is eligible to sit for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCLEX) PN Licensing examination.

“The nursing field is NOT just for women," said Carol Duell, EASTERN’s Practical Nursing Director. “We are looking for all compassionate people who want and deserve a gratifying career in healthcare.  We encourage all men interested in pursuing a nursing career to get their start here.”
