
News & Events » EASTERN Students Win Gold and Silver Medals at SkillsUSA State Competition
Twenty-two students from Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) in Willow Grove competed in their skill areas or with their leadership proficiency at the SkillsUSA State Competitions held April 6, 7 and 8 at the Hershey Convention Center. Students from Pennsylvania took part in the competition. Gold medal winners will represent EASTERN at the national-level competitions to be held June 20 - 24 in Kansas City, Missouri. SkillsUSA is a national student leadership organization that encourages students to be productive individuals in our democratic society, work to their potential, become responsible, be proud of their accomplishments and supportive of their community. Gold Medal Winners – Promotional Bulletin Board – EASTERN Commercial Art students, Nichole Hamilton, a senior from Upper Moreland High School; DaSom Kim and Macklin McNichol, juniors from Abington High School. Job Interview – EASTERN Computer Network Administration student, Michael Gabage, a junior from Jenkintown High School. State Pin Design – Nichole Hamilton.
Silver Medal Winners – Chapter Display – EASTERN Commercial Art students, Kristen Fitzpatrick, a junior from Hatboro-Horsham High School; Teresa Lesenko, a senior from Archbishop Wood High School; Diana Lu, a senior at Hatboro-Horsham High School; and EASTERN Electrical Technology student, Angelo Patiri, a junior at Upper Moreland High School. Health Occupations Portfolio – EASTERN Allied Health student, Megan Gallagher, a senior at Cheltenham High School.
Bronze Medal Winners – Employment Application Process – EASTERN Commercial Art student, Aliyah Lustine, a senior at Cheltenham High School. Job Demo A – EASTERN Cosmetology student, Sarah Hill, a senior at Hatboro-Horsham High School. Medical Terminology – EASTERN Allied Health student, Alexandria Nagy, a senior at Upper Moreland High School.
State Wide Officer 2011-2012 – EASTERN Culinary Arts student, Jillian Plum, a junior from Abington High School, has been selected as a new SkillsUSA Pennsylvania State Officer.
Seven of the EASTERN students at the competition were delegates for Jillian to assist her in her mission to become elected as State Officer. The student delegates included EASTERN Commercial Art student Myra Bannister, a junior at Upper Moreland High School; EASTERN Cosmetology student, BillieJo Goudy, a junior at Abington High School; EASTERN Commercial Art student, Jennifer Birch, a junior at Hatboro-Horsham High School; EASTERN Electronics Engineering Technology student, Casey Hensley, a junior at Lower Moreland High School; EASTERN Electrical Technology student, Angelo Patiri, a junior at Upper Moreland High School; EASTERN Computer Network Administration student, Benjamin Welch, a junior at Upper Dublin High School; and EASTERN Commercial Art student, Scott Cochran, a senior at Upper Moreland High School.
