EASTERN’s Culinary Arts Program Receives ACFEF Secondary Re-certification

Eastern Center for Arts and Technology’s (EASTERN) Culinary Arts program was recently re-certified by the Secondary Certification Committee of the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF) Accrediting Commission. The Secondary Certification Committee has given EASTERN a Grant of Certification beginning December 31, 2010, not to exceed December 31, 2015. This certification was first granted in 2008 after an in-depth review of the facility, and the program’s processes and procedures. ACFEF certification is a symbol of professionalism and a guide by which any culinarian can shape his or her career.

EASTERN’s Culinary Arts is a two-year half-day program that enables students to acquire a variety of skills including soup and sauce preparation, preparation of meat, fish and poultry entrees, baking, kitchen sanitation, purchasing and inventory controls.

Through dual enrollment with Montgomery County Community College, students can receive up to nine credits. Culinary students continuing their education in this field can benefit from college credit articulation agreements with Johnson and Wales University and Bucks County Community College. Students may also qualify for advanced placement college credit at Penn College of Technology.
