EASTERN Commercial Art Student Earns Presidential Scholarship to Moore College of Art & Design

Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Commercial Art/Upper Moreland High School senior, Nichole Hamilton, recently received a Presidential Scholarship from Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia. Nichole will receive $11,000 per year while pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration with a minor in Fashion Design — a total of $44,000 throughout all four years. This prestigious merit award was based on Nichole’s academic and artistic excellence.

Moore College of Art & Design performs an interview and thorough portfolio review for each candidate. Based on the interview and portfolio, the college may offer certain outstanding students one of its various scholarships. Nichole has an extensive portfolio of work she has done at EASTERN and for various clients.

Nichole plans to attend Moore College of Art & Design full time for four years, and hopes to specialize in medical or forensic illustration. Her Fashion Design minor will also help her with her clothing designs, which she currently sells on the Etsy website. Nichole also designs costumes for anime conventions.

At EASTERN, she volunteers her time as a student presenter for recruitment efforts, such as, Career Expo, and photographs school events. Throughout her tenure at Upper Moreland High School, she has been involved with many activities including the Drama, Tennis and Concert Choir Clubs. She is currently a member of the Upper Moreland High School Art Club and is a founder of the Anime Club. She plans to pursue both her Bachelor and Master degrees.

Moore College of Art & Design prepares students for lifelong learning and leadership in the fine arts, design arts, art history, art education and curatorial studies. As the first and only art and design college for women, Moore advances the role of women in the visual arts and ensures their success by bridging the worlds of education and work. As a leader in the arts and cultural communities, Moore promotes the visual arts through distinctive education and gallery programs.
