This two-year half-day program will provide the skills necessary to begin a career in the cosmetology field. In Pennsylvania, as well as other states, cosmetologists and manicurists must be licensed to practice in the field. One-year seniors will be considered if space is available in the program.
Nail Technician License - First-year students are required to pass the State Board of Cosmetology written and performance exam. This is a prerequisite to continuing their studies leading to licensure as a Cosmetologist.
Cosmetologist License - 1,250 hours are required in order to take the PA State Board exam.
With Higher Education: This program prepares the student for success in such personal care fields as cosmetology, management, teaching and product representation.
Students have continued their education at: Magnolia Beauty Academy, Bucks County School of Beauty, DeVry, Empire, IUP, Johnson & Wales, Kutztown, Lansdale Beauty School, Make-up Designory School (NYC), Penn State Abington, Temple, West Chester, Montgomery County Community College.
Program Benefits
To qualify to sit for state licensure individuals must complete 250 hours for manicuring, 1250 for cosmetology, and an additional 500 to get a teaching license.
Students attending EASTERN's cosmetology program will save the time necessary to complete a manicuring or cosmetology program, plus the cost which averages $2,000 to $12,500 if they attend a private beauty school.

Externship and Graduate Placement
Paid Externship Employers
Paid Externship students need 665 hours, or about a year and a half in their program before being considered for paid externship. They usually work 4 days a week during school time for the employer and come back to EASTERN one day per week to work on any task as yet unfinished or skills needed for the job.
