Automotive Technology

 

Take this program to get a head start in the automotive field!

This two-year half-day program is designed for the student who is serious about working in the automotive industry. One-year seniors will be considered if space is available in the program.

Career Objectives:

Automotive Technician Trainee; Under Car Specialist; New Car Preparation Technician

The Curriculum, Facility and Instructor are:

  • National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified Partners with the Automotive Youth Educational Systems Program

  • (A-YES) to provide qualified juniors with experiences at participating dealerships and paid summer internships

Certification students can earn:

ASE qualifying exams (after completing a reduced period of work experience in that industry).

Advanced Placement:

Students also qualify for advanced standing through an articulation agreement with:

  • Montgomery County Community College for 9 credits
  • Lincoln Technical Institute for three courses
  • Penn College of Technology
  • Universal Technical Institute (UTI) for up to 4 UTI Auto Tech courses

 


With Higher Education:

This program prepares the student for success in such career fields as: automotive service, engineering and design, manufacturer representative, insurance industry damage appraisal and testing, race car development, technical writing, managing and teaching.

Montgomery County Community College

  • Articulation Agreement for qualified students for up to 9 credits in their Automotive Technology A.A.S. Program
  • Savings up to $693

Lincoln Technical Institute - Philadelphia

  • Qualified students who enroll at Lincoln Tech do not have to take up to 3 courses (Brake Systems / Steering & Suspension and Gasoline Engines)
  • Savings up to $3,384

Penn College of Technology

  • Advanced Placement - competency assessment evaluation made by our teacher to Penn College of Technology and they assign credit value
  • Savings from $1,120-$3,360

Universal Technical Institute

  • Articulation Agreement for qualified students for up to 4 UTI Auto Tech courses
  • Savings up to $6000

Professional Certifications and Other Benefits

  • Program and teacher are ASE certified (Automotive Service Excellence)
  • Qualified students can take the ASE exam after completing a reduced period of work experience in the industry. 
  • PA Auto Safety Inspection 
  • PA Auto Emissions Inspection 
  • This program is partnered with AYES (Automotive Educational Systems Program) to provide qualified juniors with experiences at participating dealerships and paid summer internships.

 

Externship and Graduate Placement

Paid Externship Employers

  • Paid externship students need 665 hours, or about a year and a half in their program before being considered for paid externship. They usually work 4 days a week during school time for the employer and come back to EASTERN one day per week to work on any task as yet unfinished or skills needed for the job.
